The catalyst was removed by filtration the solution was extracted three times with cold 2N hydrochloric acid The organic layer was then washed with water and saturated sodium chloride solution dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate The solvent was removed by evaporation the crude product was purified by chromatography on silica gel for the elution
