The reaction was quenched with a saturated aqueous solution of ammonium chloride (1000 mL) and extracted three times with ethyl acetate (400 mL). The combined organic layers were washed with a saturated aqueous solution of sodium chloride, dried over sodium sulfate, and evaporated to dryness.
