It is also prepared by the reaction of equimolar amounts of 1-(p-chlorobenzyl)-S-methylisothiosemicarbazide and hydrazine in warm ethanol, which affords 1-amino-3-(p-chlorobenzylamino)guanidine, followed by treatment of the latter with an equimolar quantity of p-chlorobenzaldehyde in hot isopropanol.
