The mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate, and the organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate, filtrated and concentrated in vacuo to give 3-oxo-4-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)butanoic acid. MS (ESI): m/z 185 (M−H).
